“You have to start with a plan,” she says, “something that’s easy to remember.” Second, “PopUp and PitchUp! Test your business in a PopUp shop to see if physical retail is right for you. Network and connect with big retailers.”

“Go global. The appetite for Made in Britain items is big and it’s growing. So, start in online marketplaces and see where it takes you.” Also, realize that there will be parts of your business that you do best, “Focus on them and outsource the rest.”

Finally, she says, “The rise of all small businesses are enabled by digital tech. Go online and find support. Stay confident and optimistic.”
