Position last year: 51
As founder and executive chairman of Dune, Daniel Rubin ramped up the footwear brand and retailer’s international expansion in 2015.
In 2015 Rubin targeted further international growth with more stores in the US and Switzerland as well as expanding Dune’s travel retail portfolio. The footwear brand and retailer opened a 2,000 sq ft store at Roosevelt Fields on Long Island in November and will open a 1,800 sq ft store in the Westfield shopping centre at the World Trade Center, New York, in early spring 2016. The move follows the success of Dune’s first US store on Broadway in Manhattan which Rubin opened in September last year.
In Switzerland Rubin has formed a joint venture with Francois Ruess, who was responsible for Phase Eight’s expansion in the country. It opened a store in Basel in September and concessions in the Manor group of department stores, and plans further expansion in Switzerland over the coming years. Stores in Zurich and Geneva are scheduled for next year. In the UK, Rubin also led store openings at London Stansted airport in October and Manchester airport in September.
