David Shaw is halfway through the £1bn transformation of Regent Street in London’s West End and sticking to his strategy of carefully managing the 1.5m sq ft of flagship retail space by focusing on the right tenant mix rather than the highest rental deals.
Although there have been fewer new tenants this year, there have been some significant expansions such as Hugo Boss upsizing to a 15,000 sq ft store at 178-180 Regent Street and both Coach and Stuart Weitzman moving to the Jaeger store at 200-206 Regent Street. New deals signed include Kate Spade taking a 11,000 sq ft flagship at 182 Regent Street and Italian fashion brand Stefanel opening a 2,600 sq ft store at 78 Regent Street.
Both Polo Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors have agreed pre-lets on 15,000 sq ft units at 1 New Burlington Place, which is set to complete at the end of the year. Michael Kors will be relocating and upsizing from its existing store on Regent Street.
The ongoing £500m revamp of St James’s in London is creating a new fashion quarter, featuring Argentinean polo brand La Martina and UK footwear brand Joseph Cheaney & Sons.
