92. Roger Bromley, chairman, Russell & Bromley

Russell & Bromley autumn 15

Position last year: 84

It might be more than 100 years old, but footwear and accessories retailer Russell & Bromley is as strong as ever. Chaired by Roger Bromley, the great-grandson of the original founder, Bromley still holds a third of the company’s shares and leads its board of directors.

Early this year it was announced that the retailer had given a pay out of £11.2m to its family owners, upping Bromley’s dividend by 60% after the retailer reported a sales increase of 9.5% to £117.6m for the year to December 31, 2013.

The retailer also opened a new 2,630 sq ft store at Intu Trafford Centre, bringing its UK store count to 43.
