Anders Holch Polvsen

Owner and CEO, Bestseller

Denmark’s richest man, Anders Holch Povlsen, has a keen sense for investment. He is Asos’s biggest shareholder, owns 10% of Zalando and has invested in payment provider Klarna. His eye for digital disruptors is reflected in the continued success of Bestseller since he took over the family-owned business in 2000, aged just 28.

Of Bestseller’s 26 brands, 17 are available in the UK – among them Jack & Jones, Vero Moda and Selected – and it has upward of 380 wholesale accounts. Jack & Jones opened the first of its new concept “warehouse” stores in February, and scooped the award for Best App at this year’s Drapers Digital Awards.

Net turnover grew 7% to €3.5bn (£2.9bn) in its 2018/19 financial year. Profit before tax fell 3% to €372m (£312m).
