Founder, Molly Goddard
Designer Molly Goddard proved the power of a single dress. A bright pink creation in the designer’s signature tulle was worn by character Villanelle in BBC drama Killing Eve late in 2018, and immediately threw the designer into a wider spotlight.
The London-born designer, who launched her eponymous label in 2014 after graduating from Central Saint Martins, has been building a stockist list that includes Dover Street Market, Matchesfashion and Net-a-Porter.
Although small in scale compared with some brands on this list, her influence this year has been felt beyond the catwalks of London Fashion Week and our television screens. The Villanelle dress bought Goddard attention, but her brand’s core style – piles of tulle in extravagant proportions, and playful use of colour mixed with smocking, shirring and handcrafting – has proved an influential trendsetter. Many of the high street’s best summer dresses took inspiration from Goddard and her statement aesthetic.
