Daniel Rubin’s Dune Group had to work hard this year to bounce back from a bruising year to 26 January 2019, when pre-tax profits dropped 9% to £3.04m following a £1.2m debt write-off arising from House of Fraser’s administration in 2018.

In March the brand relaunched its Head Over Heels collection of women’s fashion shoes. Spring 19 marked the first time the collection had its own website, social channels and marketing.

In October, when Drapers’ secret shopper visited the Birmingham Bullring branch of Dune, we gave it top marks for the product, presentation, value for money, customer service and shopping experience.

Rubin continued to focus on expansion at home and overseas. It now has 40 UK stores, 175 concessions and 64 franchised stores and concessions in 10 countries.
