Having started her career in fashion on the shop floor at Topshop, Abigail Gunning joined Danish brand house Bestseller in 2014 and has since established herself as one of its rising stars. She started as an office manager in the brand communication department and quickly worked her way up to co-ordinator, before moving into a newly created role focused on business innovation. Her job now includes developing relationships with key influencers, liaising with Bestseller’s Danish headquarters and taking a fresh approach to engagement.

Bestseller’s head of brand communication Emily Potter credits Gunning with identifying gaps in the business that had previously gone unnoticed.

“In my 14 years in the fashion industry, Abigail stands out,” says Potter. “She meets opportunities with a simple approach that we can implement quickly. Things somehow always appear effortless for her – nothing is too much or impossible.”

Not one to stand still, Gunning furthers her knowledge by regularly attending industry events and talks, bringing back what she has learnt to help build Bestseller.

“She’s always on the cusp on top of market innovation and consumer shopping habits, and her role has been critical for us when working with partners such as Asos, Topman and John Lewis,” adds Potter.

Career path:

2017 Brand communications/business innovation, Bestseller

2015 Brand communications/co-ordinator, Bestseller

2014 Brand communications/office manager, Bestseller

2011 Deputy brand manager, Topshop
