Andrea Baldo, who joined Danish womenswear brand Ganni as CEO in October 2018, added new international stockists in 2019 including Ssense in Canada and Lane Crawford in Hong Kong.
However, for Ganni, 2019 was a year dominated by direct-to-consumer bricks-and-mortar retail. It opened its first UK store in London’s Soho in August, followed by two US stores in New York and LA in October – just one year after it started shipping to the US. Its total global store count is now 25.
Other 2019 highlights include Ganni’s ramped-up sustainability efforts. It is currently trialling its “Ganni Repeat” rental service in Scandinavia, which allows customers to rent products for one or three weeks. In store, sustainable features range from recycled product-display podiums to upcycled furniture. Both are visible in its UK shop – physical indicators of the brand’s sustainability commitment.
