Store manager, Slaters, Cheltenham, aged 28
An unshakeable enthusiasm for menswear retailing and an endless commitment to the business has taken Craig Moody from sales assistant on the shopfloor to one of the youngest store managers that Slaters Menswear has appointed.
Moody joined the 24-store business aged just 19 in Manchester, moving on to Chester and then to the retailer’s largest store in Liverpool. By the time he moved to the Basingstoke store in autumn 2006 he was assistant manager, rewarded for his unrelenting passion for his job and an absolute focus on customer service, a key tenet of the Slaters proposition.
“At Basingstoke, I got more management experience and learnt how to deal with people in the business who were older than me,” he says.
After three years, another promotion came - Moody was made store manager in Cheltenham in October 2009. He says he “jumped at the chance”.
Moody’s ambition is to “build this store up”, he says. “Cheltenham is my project and I want to do it properly.”
This is one store manager who puts his all into the business, and it is paying off for him and for Slaters.
