The Portuguese head of H&M’s UK business remains just outside of the Top 10 for the second year in a row, but 2016 was still a successful period overall for the Swedish fast fashion chain. H&M continued to expand its presence on these shores, opening its largest UK store at Westfield London in September. The retailer is also gearing up to launch a new brand concept to the UK – in November it signed up to take over the Banana Republic store on London’s Regent Street for its debut – as well as bringing existing denim-focused fascia Weekday to British shores. Meanwhile, H&M teamed up with French fashion house Kenzo for a hotly anticipated collaboration. Eager shoppers queued overnight for a piece of the brightly coloured collection, and many items sold out within hours of its launch in November.
