Asos continues to lead the way in fashion etailing. Chief executive Nick Beighton, who joined the business last year, has overseen strong growth in 2016, as the company has invested heavily into giving its customers even speedier delivery and lower prices. His strategy has paid off: sales rose 26% to £1.4bn in the year to 31 August.
However, the chief executive has had to stand firm during some sticky moments for Asos in 2016, strongly denying media reports of unfair working conditions in its Barnsley distribution centre and inviting MPs to tour the company warehouse. But his swift rebuttal seems to have satisfied its critics for now. Meanwhile, Asos shows no signs of slowing its pace and a confident Beighton has predicted “major growth” throughout 2017.
