At nearly 135 years old, independent department store group Fenwick continues to be a landmark on high streets across the UK, from London’s Bond Street to Bracknell, Brent Cross, Newcastle and York.
The 11-store chain is led by media-shy Mark Fenwick, the fifth-generation chairman, alongside his cousins Adam and Hugo, who are group managing director and group trading director respectively.
Fenwick’s gross sales rose 1.2% to £431.7m for the year to 29 January. Pre-tax profit increased 23.4% to £44.2m.
In September it reopened its Colchester store following an extensive £35m two and a half-year refurbishment. Always evolving, the business is working on the opening of its first new store in 14 years in 2017, at the £240m Lexicon development in Bracknell, as well as the anticipated relaunch of its ecommerce platform.
