Position last year: New entry
Gavin thomson adidas
Gavin Thomson has been at the helm of Adidas’s northern Europe operations, which includes the UK, since 2014. Having been at the company for more than 20 years, he was previously senior vice-president of global sales at its wholesale centre of excellence from 2011, then replaced outgoing Gil Steyaert as MD from 1 January.
It has been a busy year for Adidas. In March, the brand opened its first House of Adidas concession concept outside of London, in Glagsgow-based sports retailer Greaves.
In June Adidas made fashion headlines when it partnered with musician Kanye West for the launch of a Yeezy-branded range covering street and sport-focused footwear, clothing and accessories for men and women.
That same month, it became the first brand partner to make store stock available to order through German etailer Zalando.
No doubt one of the footwear giant’s highlights of 2016 was walking away with the Sportswear Brand of the Year title at the Drapers Footwear Awards in June
