Drapers Top 100 2016 – 83. Senior team at Whistles

Whistles brand director Helen Williamson, managing director Justin Hampshire and creative director Nick Passmore make their joint debut in the Top 100 after after the departure of Jane Shepherdson from the role of chief executive in September this year.

The management team faces a challenging time at the premium retailer: Whistles made a pre-tax loss of £15.5m in the year to 30 January, shortly before it was taken over by Phase Eight owner The Foschini Group (see number 66) in March. Total sales fell 1% year on year to £62.2m.

However, in November Williamson said Whistles got “back on track” in the first half of 2016. With international store expansion planned in Dubai and Switzerland and a bridal collection launching early next year, Whistles will be hoping for a stronger 2017.
