Although it is cagey about releasing figures, young fashion etailer PrettyLittleThing claims to have enjoyed “huge growth” this year and now employs more than 140 people, up from 30 in 2015. At the helm is Umar Kamani, son of Boohoo co-founder Mahmud Kamani (number 8).
Having grown up around the Manchester rag trade, Kamani instinctively knows how to maximise sales. He is now looking at the opportunities abroad: the brand launched into the US this year, where sales have “exploded”, and has localised sites for Ireland, the US and Australia, and delivers to continental Europe.
Kamani has also invested in refurbishing PrettyLittleThing’s Wellington Mill head office in Manchester, adding a gym and new healthy restaurant for the growing team.
This week, it emerged that Boohoo had bought 66% of PrettyLittleThing for £3.3m. Kumar said ”As part of the Boohoo Group, we will continue to build on our strong brand positioning and we are excited by the prospect of continuing to anticipate and set trends”
