Throughout 2016, Jacqueline Gold has fiercely championed a cause close to her heart: women in business.

She has been vocal about the importance of gender diversity in fashion retail, questioning whether retailers without women on their boards can understand their customers, and backing initiatives for change.

The Ann Summers chief executive was awarded a CBE in the 2016 New Year’s Honours list and spoke up about wanting to remain part of the European Union, signing an open letter from business leaders urging people to vote to remain.

Ann Summers returned to profit at the end of 2015, after suffering £2.6m losses the previous year.
