It has been a busy year for David Schneider, as Zalando surges forward with tech innovations and brand tie-ups. Its most recent results showed a 27.5% increase in group revenue to €1.64bn (£1.4bn) for the third quarter of 2017. Profits were less positive, however: adjusted EBIT for the same period dropped, and is likely to be in the range of -€5m to €5m (-£4.5m to £4.5m).

This year Zalando added Quiz and Boden to its brand list, launched a wholesale platform with Bestseller and its own tech start-up incubator programme, and introduced premium membership, offering extra features.

It also continued to grow its consumer trade show, Bread & Butter, and rolled out its fulfilment service, which is used by businesses including Joules

Plans for the future include the introduction of beauty, following in the footsteps of brands such as Asos and Missguided.

The ecommerce giant rounded off the year by being crowned Fashion Pureplay Etailer of the Year at the Drapers Awards, ensuring Schneider’s progression up the Top 100.
