As leader of the British Retail Consortium (BRC), Helen Dickinson has a key role in promoting the industry and shaping policy. Over the past year, she has argued strongly for a freeze on the business rates multiplier next April and championed flexible working, among other things. Crucially, she and her team have also been lobbying the government to ensure retailers’ voices are heard during the Brexit negotiations. In April, the BRC published a “roadmap” of post-Brexit tariffs, to highlight to politicians the importance of striking a good trade deal with the European Union.
Dickinson took over Stephen Robertson as BRC chief executive in 2012, and has worked tirelessly to influence retail policy ever since. In 2016, she received an OBE for her services to the industry.
