The Drapers Top 100 2016

Drapers’ annual Top 100 ranks key influencers across fashion retail based on their personal impact on the industry and business performance over the last 12 months, as well as his or her potential for 2017.

This year has been extraordinary: the usual challenges facing fashion retailers – such as the weather and discounting – have been set against the UK’s decision to exit the European Union and the drop in the value of sterling.

The Brexit vote unsettled the fashion industry. But savvy retailers see opportunities in times of turmoil – and there are many examples here.

Two names dominated 2016: Mike Ashley (at number 14) and Sir Philip Green (18). While still influential, their business practices have been called into question this year. Meanwhile, new entries and high risers have shaken up the list.
