Turkish denim supplier Isko has long been a pioneer of responsible production, and CEO Fatih Konukoğlu says sustainability is “in our DNA”.
Among its sustainability initiatives, Isko has obtained “life-cycle assessments” for all of its 25,000-plus denim products. Last year, it was the first denim manufacturer to obtain certified environmental product declarations (EPDs) for its fabrics, which allows it to compare their water usage and carbon footprint. This led the way to the creation of the first product category rules for future denim industry EPDs. In 2019, Isko supported the launch of the Drapers Sustainable Fashion conference, which seeks to encourage industry-wide change by sharing of best practice.
