Drapers 30 Under 30 2020: Francesca Fuller, senior buyer, River Island

Age: 29

Throughout her career in buying, Francesca Fuller has worked tirelessly to significantly increase sales, improve quality, elevate designs and drive efficiency.

“Fran has great energy and a relentless determination to succeed,” says James Venning, buying manager at River Island. “She is always delivering the latest trends and looking for new opportunities to deliver even better product to our customers.”

Fuller joined River Island in 2009 after studying buying at the Fashion Retail Academy in London. She held a range of roles in the retailer’s menswear department before moving to Burton in 2013.

Last year, she returned to River Island as a senior buyer in boyswear jersey, where she has “helped push the department to fantastic new levels”, says Venning.

Fuller tells Drapers: “I’ve progressed through my career by being offered new opportunities and running with them, constantly challenging myself, being a positive person and being motivated to drive results.”

Venning adds: “Fran already has a wide set of skill to be proud of, and is always determined to develop these further, as well as learning new ones. She has a bright future in buying and I have no doubt she can take her career as far as she desires.”
