When your boss says she wishes she could clone you, you must be doing something right. So it is for Georgina Chapman, designer at women’s occasionwear retailer Coast. Chapman first joined Coast in 2012 and has since won regular promotions, going from a graduate position to a designer role in five years.

“She just shines,” explains Coast’s head of design, Kim Elliott. “She wants to learn and is like a sponge, which is why she develops so quickly. She is very ambitious and is working very hard to get where she wants to be. She has always stood out.”

A career highlight for Chapman came when she had the opportunity to work on Coast’s new Friday collection, a range of more relaxed daywear.

Elliott says: “It was a big business opportunity, and we had confidence that Georgina could work as part of a tight ream to deliver the Friday ranges. We’re now driving this product to more of our stores and partners.”
