Drapers 30 Under 30 2020: Juliette Barnes, graphic designer, Oasis

Age: 26

Juliette Barnes has proved she can more than hold her own since joining Oasis as a creative artworker in 2018 from IQ Student Accommodation. Unforeseen circumstances meant she ended up being the sole member of her team during a particularly busy period while the business was rebranding. Barnes juggled several people’s workloads with aplomb and a smile on her face. Within six months of starting at Oasis, she was promoted to graphic designer.

“Juliette’s determination and unbreakable spirit show rare skills that will take her far within her career,” says Rachel Jarrett, senior brand design manager at Oasis. “She possesses a huge amount of potential within a highly competitive and tough industry, and is bursting with creativity that is constantly inspiring those around her.”

Barnes’ ambition is to become the best designer she can and help nurture the next generation: As a designer there’s a great satisfaction in seeing the final outcome presented for everyone to see. Walking past a store on Oxford Street with a beautiful display and saying ‘I designed that’ is incredible. To lead a team [in the future] would be amazing. I’d love to be able to help ambitious hard-working designers improve their skills and confidence.”
