The week’s hottest happenings.
It’s a red-head summer
During the recent Copenhagen Fashion Week festivities it was refreshing to see Danish designers returning to a lesser-seen minority
of models - those with shocking ginger locks. It’s not the Drapers team’s forte, but are we predicting a new spring 15 hair trend here?
A fund-raising drive with luke
England and Bath rugby player Matt Banahan (guess which one he is) obviously shops in the XXXL section of menswear brand Luke’s collection. Leigh Hookway and Matt Kerry (customers and friends of the brand) and George Montgomery (of stockist Life Clothing in Partick, near Glasgow) are happy with the standard sizes. The quartet met at Luke’s annual golf day at Menzies Welcombe in Warwickshire, when nearly £1,400 was raised for charity Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust. Anyone interested in organising an event for this cause, email FTCT director Anna Pangbourne at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The roof garden above John Lewis’s Oxford Street store doubled as an intimate gig venue thanks to singer-songwriter Frank Turner (pictured below with Drapers’ Kirsty McGregor). Turner gave an acoustic performance for the launch party of the OnBlackheath festival on September 13-14, at which he is a headline act. Marawa the Amazing and her hula hooping majorettes added extra sparkle, as guests sipped beer and enjoyed the dulcet tones of #PlayOnBlackheath competition winners, Rhys Lewis & the Relics.
Girls on Film
We were impressed that this visitor to Moda on Sunday was so enthralled with one of the fashion shows that he felt the need to record it. What a lovely souvenir of a trip to the fashion capital that is Solihull….
