Founder and CEO, Oliver Bonas
It is been a busy year for Olly Tress, the founder of Oliver Bonas. With a focus on growth, Tress secured a £15m revolving credit facility from HSBC in 2019, which has enabled it to open eight new UK stores. This has taken Oliver Bonas’s UK store portfolio to 85 shops and created at least 80 new jobs. Tress also turned his attention to improving the retailer’s in-house design capabilities. This strategy has enabled Oliver Bonas to keep up with rapidly evolving trends in 2019, such as structured headbands, and create collections that stand out.
Despite these successes, Tress is acutely aware of the ongoing challenges in the market, and has spoken out about the need for a rethink of the business rates system to help retailers survive in the current volatile trading environment.
