Alan White

Chief executive, N Brown

N Brown’s niche positioning continues to help it outperform the market, with all of its mail-order brands showing sales uplifts and group pre-tax profit up an impressive 13% to £41.8m for the 26 weeks ended August 29.

Chief executive Alan White swooped quickly to rescue outsize menswear chain High & Mighty over the summer, taking on 14 of its 21 high street stores. A bricks-and-mortar operation is outside N Brown’s normal trading format, and White is likely to supplement the stores with the launch of a catalogue under the brand imminently.

It gives White a much bigger foothold in the menswear market and a serious platform for expansion into the sector.
