Arnotts appoints Ray Hernan as new boss

Dublin-based department store Arnotts has hired Ray Hernan as chief executive.

Hernan, chief operating officer of Arnotts since 2010, replaces Nigel Blow who stepped down from the role earlier this year to join Ali Al-Fayed’s luxury clothier Turnbull & Asser as managing director. Blow took on the chairman role of Arnotts following the appointment.

Hernan, who starts the role with immediate effect, has held a number of senior finance positions at companies including Brown Thomas, Selfridges and Ryanair.

His role as chief operating officer has yet to be filled.

Blow said:On behalf of my fellow directors, I wish Ray the very best of luck in what are both challenging and exciting times for the company. I have had the pleasure of working alongside Ray for the past three years, where a lot has been accomplished. I look forward to continuing that close and effective working relationship in the years ahead, as do his colleagues.”
