BFC appoints Louise Carter to head up development

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has appointed former head of events Louise Carter to the newly created role head of development.

Carter joined the BFC as a consultant in 2006 and has since worked as special project manager. Her most recent position was as head of events, with her role encompassing London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Awards and developing the events programme.

In her new role, Carter will play a key role in developing new initiatives and opportunities to promote British fashion. The BFC has been broadening its promotional programme and support for British designers with activity now taking place all year round.

Chief executive officer Caroline Rush said: “This role was created with Louise in mind, enabling her to focus on scoping scale and opportunity of new projects such as London Pre [events to showcase designers pre-collections] with thorough industry engagement, developing a programme of events through 2012, whilst continuing to take a lead role in ensuring quality and the creative delivery of the existing events programme including London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Awards”.
