David Douglas

Strategic buying and merchadise director, USC and chief executive, Gio-Goi

Five years after selling branded young fashion chain USC to entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter, David Douglas made a welcome return to the branded young fashion chain, three months after it went through a pre-pack administration.

Douglas joined the board as strategic buying and merchandise director in March and set off on a charm offensive with suppliers and got stuck into developing USC’s own-label product.

He has also tackled womenswear, which had been badly neglected by USC in his absence, with the introduction of a raft of short-order labels to help the chain compete with the high street. To top it off, Pixie Geldof was signed to front this autumn’s womenswear relaunch.

Separately, Douglas’s Gio-Goi brand recorded another solid year.
