“I believe [this] year there will be a continuation of the branded menswear sector’s buying patterns in favour of short order or in-season buying. This has partly come about through the rise in popularity and acceptance of the
high street among fashionable consumers, coupled with the relationship between sales and the weather. As a result the branded retailer has had to react, and is now sourcing more and more product that is trend- and weather-led, while also having to move closer to hitting high street price points. Those wholesale brands that can react and offer these facets will be in a position to gain market share, similar to how many of the now successful women’s young fashion brands did when the same shift happened in that sector some years ago.”
