Mark Bage

Co-owner of York premium indie Sarah Coggles

“Average selling prices are rising, which means the 2011 move from disposable fashion to investment statement pieces by customers will continue to change the high street. The hike in commodity prices is forcing a hastening of this move.

Unfortunately, 15% to 20% of indies could go out of business in 2012, but this will be the end of the decline. Newer stores with fresher trading styles will replace some, and other stores that have embraced the online format will also flourish.”
