Mike Shearwood

Chief executive of womenswear retail group Aurora Fashions

“Based on the current economic uncertainty, most retailers will view 2012 very cautiously. This should result in tighter buys and improved stock control as retailers look to maintain margins by reducing discounting. The consumer will undoubtedly buy less but buy better, resulting in a higher frequency of wear. This is likely to mean quality will be an increasingly important part of the purchase decision. Technology will continue to be introduced into the retail environment, not only to enhance the customer experience but to improve efficiency in the supply chain.”
