Simon Poole

Managing director, Luke

“If confidence stays as it is, then we should be OK and the reduction in housing prices, even though small, will hopefully kick-start the [spending] cycle a little in spring. The rise in VAT means more paperwork and taxation when we need less. This increase is passed onto the consumer, just when they probably haven’t had a pay rise or Christmas bonus or are in fear for their jobs - it’s the first stupid thing this new Government has done. Costs will continue to rise, but we will still use 100% cotton on core product and cotton mixes on jackets as man-made fibres are good for construction.”
