Peter Lucas

Chairman, BMB Group and UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT)

Peter Lucas took it upon himself to fight the industry’s corner this year, after leading the creation of super trade body UKFT, an umbrella group that, for the first time, represents all the fashion and textile trade bodies via one voice.

Lucas has lobbied the Government on issues like credit insurance and is in talks with it over bank lending to suppliers - or rather the lack of it.

He is also looking at ways to save the industry’s Sector Skills Council, after Skillsmart UK lost its charter. It remains to be seen whether the UKFT can deliver on all of its promises.
