Pringle appoints Alistair Carr as design director

Luxury knitwear brand Pringle of Scotland has hired Balenciaga designer Alistair Carr as its new design director.

Carr succeeds Clare Waight Keller who resigned earlier this month after five years as creative director.

Carr’s first Pringle collection will be for spring 12 and will be presented in September.

Carr joined Balenciaga in 2007 and has previously worked at Marni, Cacharel and Chloe. In the mid-2000s he also showed his own label at London Fashion Week for three seasons.

Pringle’s chief executive Jean Fang said: “His passion for both cutting-edge and contemporary luxury design is the perfect alliance for Pringle of Scotland, and we look forward to continuing our success as an international luxury brand with an emphasis in knitwear.”
