Luke is arguably the most indie-centric menswear brand in the market, with managing director Simon Poole referring to his stockists as the “arteries of the British fashion industry”.
Earlier this year, Poole passed a 5% discount on to stockists off the back of savings made as the pound strengthened against the dollar and Poole is vocal in his disapproval of multiple retailers’ buying strategies when it comes to heavy in-season discounting, insisting indies are the only places where brands can truly build themselves. And the brand’s figures back this stance - turnover is on schedule to grow by almost 50% to £6.5m for the year to next January.
As for product, Luke has been steadily and successfully growing from a T-shirt business into a fully fledged lifestyle brand thanks to talented designer Luke Roper. Further improvements will be made next year with a revamped footwear offer.
