Sir Stuart Rose predicts growth in 2011

Marks & Spencer executive chairman Sir Stuart Rose has predicted that the economy would continue to grow in 2011 and said the country would be in a “brighter place” this time next year.

Speaking on Sky News Rose said: “I predict that we’ll come out at the back end of 2011 pleasantly surprised. The deficit will be down further than we thought, the prospect of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be there, the Olympics will be arriving.”

Rose will step down from the high street giant in January after running M&S since 2004.
