Steve Robinson

Chief executive, M and M Direct

M and M Direct started the year on a high note with the release of its full-year figures to the end of February showing a 29% hike in sales to £95m.

Continued growth throughout 2009 was largely due to Steve Robinson’s strategic shift to distance the etailer from its roots in discount sportswear and reposition it as a broader fashion clearance site. It now stocks young fashion brands including Firetrap and Animal.

In June, Robinson launched the site into an additional seven European countries. March’s collaboration with Ted Baker saw M and M Direct launch a clearance website for the premium brand, the first standalone website it has hosted for a brand.
