Will she stay or will she go? Speculation was rife as Drapers went to press that Kate Bostock was being courted by rivals, but she insists she’s staying put. Despite her appeal, Marks & Spencer’s clothing sales fell during the first half of 2011, and therefore so has executive director for general merchandise Kate Bostock’s Power List ranking. But she still helped the retailer maintain its clothing market share during the period, with some exceptional catwalk interpretations for her sub-brands across women’s and men’s wear. Bostock has also eradicated product duplication across sub-brands, giving each its own raison d’être.
