With high youth unemployment and rising tuition fees, Topshop’s core customers have been feeling the pinch this year – Sir Philip Green must be counting his lucky stars that he has the sensible and charismatic Mary Homer at the helm. Topshop continues to hit the trend nail on the head, landing rivals in trouble: it settled out of court with Asos over copyright infringements on a pair of Topshop sandals. Topshop Unique continues to attract praise from fashion’s front row, and Homer has made online her priority, launching a games app for students among other initiatives. If sales are tough, it’s not her fault.
