Oasis frontman and Manchester bad boy Liam Gallagher demonstrated to the fashion industry that celebrity brands still have serious clout in 2010, when his Pretty Green label took the Drapers Award for Menswear Brand of the Year.
Pretty Green launched in mid-2009 and has already clocked up about £4m in sales thanks to a sharp focus on the quality and detail of its product and a 1960s heritage vibe, pulled together by tailoring heavyweight Nick Holland, the label’s creative director, and approved by Gallagher himself.
Sarah Coggles owner Mark Bage says it is clear from the cut of the jackets in Pretty Green’s premium sub-brand Black Label that Holland and Gallagher have kept the brand’s “macho” target customer firmly in mind, instead of going for a standard fit.
