Founder, New Look
There’s no stronger sign that a company is in turmoil than when its founder has to step back in to sort it out. Product and sourcing king Tom Singh was parachuted back into his beloved New Look following the ousting of chief executive Carl McPhail and a disastrous year for the retailer. In a round of musical chairs, Singh persuaded Barbara Horspool to stay on instead of defecting to Oasis and overturned McPhail’s decision to fire group buying director Roger Wightman, bringing back the core team that helped shape New Look’s success.
What he says… “New Look can’t prosper without offering the right fashion at a good price.”
