Chief executive, N Brown
With sales of plus-size womenswear up 45% over the past five years across the fashion industry, Alan White had a record year with N Brown, as total sales at the home-shopping group grew 4.2% to £690m in the year to February 27.
Already ahead of the pack of retailers who have come late to the party by launching plus-size collections this year, White launched not one, but two brands in 2010 to add to his specialist portfolio - plus-size menswear brand Williams & Brown and plus-size womenswear brand That’s My Style, both of which have their own dedicated websites.
White also expanded N Brown’s line-up by snapping up lingerie etailer Figleaves for £11.5m earlier this year.
Following the success of its Simply Be brand launch in the German market last year, which made N Brown £2.4m in sales in its first 12 months, White launched Simply Be into the US market in August, in a bid to take a slice of the estimated $35bn (£22.7bn) plus-size market there.
