48 Stephen Newlands ***Re-entry***

Group managing director, AMG Footwear

The power and popularity of the classic Ugg boot refused to die down this year, with the cosy Classic and Cardigan boot styles continuing to adorn the feet of women across the UK.

The popularity of the style in the UK is down to Stephen Newlands, managing director of former distributor AMG, which has been responsible for the distribution of Ugg for the past eight years. By March of this year the brand was understood to have already sold more than one million pairs of Ugg boots into the UK market for autumn 10 - that’s a lot of Ugg-clad feet tramping the UK’s high streets.

However, 2010 brought mixed fortunes for AMG, with Ugg parent company Deckers axing its distribution deal with AMG in favour of selling the brand direct from spring 11.
