Buying director for womenswear, accessories and kidswear, Selfridges

Sebastian Manes’ much-lauded footwear concept for Selfridges last year – the Shoe Galleries – went a long way to making 2011 another great year for the sexy Frenchman. In February, he was promoted to buying director for womenswear, accessories and kidswear. That shouldn’t come as a surprise, since according to reports about 10,000 pairs of shoes are sold a week, which is 1,500 more than was forecast. So good was Manes’ Shoe Galleries that where he led, others followed. Earlier this year, Harrods launched its equivalent, the Shoe Salon. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. In his new role, Manes was tasked with replicating his footwear success in a revamped designer womenswear floor.
