The Boss Black and Boss Orange brands are perennial favourites among indie retailers, and Hugo Boss has continued to produce best-selling fashion under the leadership of Bernd Hake. Despite expanding its store portfolio, wholesale still remains core to the business, accounting for more than half of Hugo Boss’s sales. The group raised sales and profit expectations for the year in November after sales grew faster than expected, and the acquisition of 15 franchise stores previously operated by Moss Bros is set to boost profits by £3.5m in 2011.

This year’s low… Hugo Boss had to apologise for the maltreatment of forced workers during the Second World War after a biography exposed links between Hugo F Boss, his company and the Third Reich.
