Vice president, international sales, Gerry Weber
A stalwart of Drapers’ Indicator poll, mainstream womenswear brand Gerry Weber has continued to thrive in the UK. Despite concerns from British stockists at the start of the year that the introduction of so-called “trust budgets” would remove their autonomy over stock, retailers had their faith in the brand renewed by the appointment of former Basler UK managing director Christian Lawaczeck as head of its UK and Republic of Ireland operation in May. Although Monique Fischer mooted the trust budget idea in the UK, it has not been forced on any of Gerry Weber’s 400 stockists here. The brand has also upped its retail presence with the opening of a standalone store in London’s Westfield Stratford City.
