Managing director, Liberty
With just Marco Capello above him as Liberty chairman, Ed Burstell is running the Liberty show in creative terms and looks like the cat that has got the cream. Never mind that he routinely works six days a week and seems to spend his life on a plane, Burstell describes the role at the iconic department store as “Ed’s Great British adventure”.
It looks set to get even more adventurous next year when he stars as “the Simon Cowell of fashion buying” in a BBC TV series.
Trading is said to be very strong to date this autumn, and Liberty’s bricks-and-mortar store is expected to make a profit for the first time in a decade.
