In the summer, Xin He’s brainchild - the eBay Fashion Outlet - was born, and some 30 retailers including Office, Ted Baker and Karen Millen jumped on board. In just three months, the site made about £4m of revenue for the retailers. It’s little wonder, with traffic figures of about 2.3 million visitors each month, the audience reach is huge.
He launched innovative tools such as the ability to create a personalised profile on the site to filter product by preferences such as size, condition and brand, which also cleverly gave eBay the opportunity to collect in-depth customer data. eBay pushed the new launch hard, with adverts in Vogue and Grazia, as well as on billboards, buses and train stations.
